Forever Hooey Hound

Tackhammer's Fred
May 2, 1996 - October 5, 2007
Cancer is an ugly, aggressive disease. There was a mass hiding behind his liver, more than half the size of his liver from what I could tell from the x-ray and ultrasound. The Knight held his four-legged boy and we cried and petted him, long after it was done. I remain in awe of Dr. Nancy Handley and the staff at Georgetown Vet. Their compassion and genuine affection for our dogs is remarkable.
I'd like to write more, but I just can't. Thank you all for your kind words about Mugsy's birthday and all of the support you've given us the last couple of days. Please forgive me if I don't answer each reply this time; this wound is just too raw.

Arrooohhhh Freddy. Have fun up there in heaven, where the steps won't hurt ya anymore, and if you see Maddie, give her some hugs - she'll keep you company til Mugsy and Mom and Dad and you can all be together someday. I'll miss your droolin and getting to howl with you when I go see your momma next - you send her some slobber down to keep her and daddy okay while they grieve. You're a good, sweet boy.

Please let me know if there is anything at all you need or I can do... Fred was called over that Rainbow Bridge for a reason. He was one of those great pups who got to live a wonderful life and knew what it was like to be LOVED.
Many hugs to your entire family... keep an eye on Mugsy too. Losing a sibling can be difficult for older pups sometimes... don't let him fall in to depression.

My original Lady along with others sweet loved doggies met him their too. No more hurting, just fast running and prancing and playing all the time. We'll meet you at Rainbow bridge on day, until then Slober on Oh Freddie boy, slober on, you can do whatever you want to up in doggie heaven :)
Chan & Mark, you can be proud of your old boy! He's a cutie for sure and a small memorial will help too. Hugs to you both & lots of pets to Mugsy, he'll need you lots now, I know from experience there. Love you guys!

My heart just hurts for you.

Find peace in knowing what a wonderful family you were to him, and how you unselfishly let him go across that bridge when he needed to.

My deepest sympathy for you and the Knight and Mugsy. It's never easy letting our dear fur children go, but at least we can free them from their pain. You'll be together with him again one day! Hugs from me and my pet posse.

You and your family are in my thoughts.
We had to have one of our cats, Kelly, put to sleep because of cancer last month. She was with us for 12 years. I still miss her.
I know how difficult it is right now. No need to reply. Take time to grieve the loss of your loved pet.

I found you through Alabama Fiber- I'm so sad for you and the Knight. I lost my Sophalina this summer and posted Where did she go? - not a tribute so much but some words that made me less sad when I reread them. I hope you find less sadness.

I found you through InsaKnitty. I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing Thomas, my cat, a year and a half ago was devastating. Keep the joyful memories close and just cry as much as you need and whenever the tears come.

Such a handsome boy. I am so very sorry for your loss. I found you through Mary's blog and her little tribute. We lost our beloved Bubba Joe in 2004 and we still miss him although we can now think of him and smile at the wonderful memories he gave. I do so hope he and Fred are up there playing together. I am sure they are all having great fun. huggles

Chan, I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved Fred. We recently got the news that our 3 year old Corgi has a very aggressive form of cancer and will probably not be long with us. So far she's not in pain, but we know the time will come when we have to make the hard decision. My heart goes out to you.

I found you through Michelle and am so sorry to hear about your poochie. My mother and father in law had a basset just like him, only she was named Betty... died before her time and my in-laws were devestated. The loss of a beloved pet is so hard! Sending you and your family hugs and good thoughts. ~Hettie
